Crown of thorns encircling the Divine Heart of Jesus

Today let us contemplate the second ornament on the Sacred Heart; Crown of thorns. The crown of thorns represents the agony and passion of Christ. Jesus was crowned with thorns not only during His passion when the Jews mocked him, as King of the Jews but from the moment of His conception in the womb of Virgin Mary till His crucifixion and death. Even to this day, the thorn of our sins agonize Jesus in the daily masses offered around the world. O! Mighty miracle! Passion of Sacred Heart! Endless Love! Christ! If only people had known You enough to love You well. You led an ordinary life while You were here on earth, hiding Your glory, prowess and majesty like You always remain hidden in the Holy Eucharist. Still, who could counter Your might and prowess. Christ! You truly are the ruler of the universe. All you, who love the Messiah! Remember that for your sake, Christ painfully and agonizingly pretended to be a king and endured with infinite patience the crown of thorns placed upon His head. But the crown of thorns on His Sacred Heart is woven by your sins, personal offenses, willful acts against your conscience, evil thoughts, ill will and crowned by your own hands. If you desire to console the Heart of Jesus, burning with love for us and victim for our sins, then make amends for your manifold offenses and love Him with all your might.

INVOCATION 

Jesus! Treasure house of all goodness! I am deeply distressed to see Your Sacred Heart crowned with thorns. Jesus! My life, solace and comfort, I adore You. I deplore from the depth of my heart, all my sins and those of the whole world. O! My Jesus! The happiness of my heart, bless me to wash away my sins in the sorrow of my heartfelt repentance and gracefully place my soul Your divine presence.

Grant to Your Church, O Lord, assurance of freedom, protect our Supreme Pontiff and make haste that all may know the haven of truth, and have unity of faith, so that there may soon be one fold and one Shepherd! Lord, be merciful to the unfortunate sinners, console the souls in Purgatory and be merciful to me, your unworthy servant. O Immaculate Heart of Mary, O Mother of all blessings, I firmly believe that through your powerful intercession, all my prayers and petitions will be granted. Amen

Jesus, meek and humble of heart, Make our hearts like unto Thine.

Let us pray.

Almighty and eternal God, look upon the Heart of Thine most-beloved Son, and upon the praises and satisfaction He offers Thee in the name of sinners; and appeased by worthy homage, pardon those who implore Thy mercy, in Thy Great Goodness in the name of the same Jesus Christ Thy Son, Who lives and reigns with Thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, world without end. Amen.

EJACULATORY PRAYER

Sacred Heart of Jesus, crowned with thorns, grant me the grace of true repentance.
