REMEMBER TO REMEMBER

While I was reading a world famous book “Secret” I was struck by these words of Micheal Bernard “Remember to remember”
It refers to awareness of our existence. It reflects our self-awareness. According to psychologists there are sixty thousands thoughts which go on in our mind each day. Thus it is not easy to control our mind at all time. But nothing is impossible for human being. We are endowed with tremendous potentiality. We have the power to achieve anything we constantly strive. Our potentiality is closely related with our self-awareness. Being aware of what we are..? And what we are thinking right now. The saying “Remember to remember” is relevant here. Self-awareness is a tool to the way to success. Great men of all times used this tool to achieve their goals.
There is a story of Lord Buddha.
Once a man approached Buddha and asked – “Guru, What did you gain from your meditations? I think you lost many things of our joyful life being a monk.”
Buddha smiled and replied- “Yes, I lost lot of things through my meditation. I lost envy, selfishness, greed, anger, enmity, and Jealousy.
But I gained peace, joy, happiness, harmony and above all self-awareness.”
He endorsed by the words of Buddha. He understood that self-awareness through meditation is the only way to gain peace and harmony. That is Remember to Remember.
Remember what you are thinking right now. If it is a negative thought change it into positive, because we are the products of our thoughts. What we think is exactly what we become. Negative thoughts lead us to depression, stress, and mental illness. But positive thoughts bring peace and harmony. All we need is peace of mind and joy. We constantly strive for it. But unfortunately we are unable to find it, because our mind always wavers. It goes on like a river. It always flows. But if we are able find presence of mind, we can find peace and can achieve what we really want. Therefore always remember to remember.
There is another story told by a spiritual mentor.
There lived a carpenter in a village, long years ago. One day he met a wise man and his life began to transform. He went to a nearby mountain and lived as a monk. After some days he returned to his village as a fully transformed person. He became enlightened. People were so curious to know that what he would do next, they keenly observed him. But people were astonished by his action. Again he took his tool and began to work as a carpenter. One day an old lady asked him- “hey man what are you doing, you became enlightened and doing the same work again…? Was this your enlightenment?
He looked at her and said. -“Yes I am doing the same work which I did before. Because I did not know what I did, but now I know what I do.”
Self-awareness is the only way to authenticity, being an authentic means to became self-aware and be perfect. Thus we should try to control our mind. Mind is also like a horse. If you don’t tie it properly, it will run out of your control and you will be in danger. Therefore tie your mind with self-awareness (always Remember to Remember). It will bring happiness, joy and perfect harmony.
