“EDUCATION”- FOR YOUTH.

Once a Professor asked in the class “what makes you happy? ” Suddenly answers came up in one voice MONEY makes us happy!” Professor was saddened by their answer and said

“This is the problem of today’s youth.”

I contemplated this event many times. In present scenario, competitive world teaches money and wealth is everything. youth are only taught to be greedy, how to earn money? How to gain wealth? These are the fundamental questions which are always going through the mind of today’s youth.

Our education becomes a tool for making money. Most of the youths are engaged with studying professional courses. Their only aim is to gain knowledge in order to gain wealth and money. Here they tend to forget the basic value of education.

Today’s youths are more or less self-centered. Focusing only on their own interest and activities and forget their responsibility towards the nation. That is the nation building itself. This happens because the basic value of education is still unknown to them. Basic value of education is not emphasized enough in the school. Once they come to know the real purpose of education then they can change the face of our nation. So the purpose of education should be taught in every colleges and Universities.

Keeping this in mind Nelson Mandela once said “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
This could be achieved only if we know the real purpose and value of education.

Real purpose of education is to mould every person as a good human. It includes intellectual plus character – that is the goal of true education. And also to provide for the fullest possible development of each student for living morally, creatively and productively in the society.

Mahatma Gandhi says “By education I mean all-round drawing of best in child and man in body, mind and spirit.”
The real focus of education is not only to gain wealth but to teach the youth how to live life meaningfully. In order to live life meaningfully one must become a good human being rooted in the basic moral values. Education is the process of facilitating learning, or the acquisition of knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits. It’s not just acquiring knowledge in order to get good job and live sophisticated life.

Holistic education is based on the premise that each person finds identity, meaning, and purpose in life through connections to the community, to the natural world, and to spiritual values such as compassion and peace. Holistic education aims to call forth from people an intrinsic reverence for life and a passionate love of learning.

If every college trains their pupils in this way there will be upliftment all around our society.
Let us don’t forget this “Youth today is the driving force of tomorrow.”
